a bothy is a simple shelter that hillwalkers, climbers and people that love to get away to remote places. they have no water from the tap nor has it got electricity ( although a few have) all you have is a woodburning stove or an open fire to burn wood or coal. there is usually a burn or loch nearby for water. it is like camping but in a brick tent. over 100 bothies are maintained by the mba and there are others maintained by other groups with the same interst, to keep the bothies open and in good condition.
